Wednesday morning..Halfway through the week. I decided to branch out today and use the curved illusion tract as my intro. It worked really well with everyone. What a great icebreaker! First I spoke with Jessica at the bus stop. I jumped right into my intro and I got a good laugh with the tract. She thought it was great when I gave her the tract to keep. I began witnessing to her for a few minutes or so and then her bus pulled up. Thank God for the “Why Christianity?” tracts. Sometimes I get through the Law without presenting Grace. So I can at least hand them this tract to finish it up on their time. Next I saw two guys walking down the sidewalk so I stopped them and presented the illusion tract again. They both loved it. I hear so many people say “I’m going to heaven because I ask for forgiveness”. So it is nice to correct their understanding of how to be forgiven.
I then noticed a young man who looked kind of unsure about where he was heading so I approached him and we began to talk. He was a very nice guy and seemed to tolerate what I was saying. He told me that he goes to a Church of Christ sometimes with his dad on the weekends. Next I met with Robert and we talked about forgiveness and repentance. I was able to take him through the Law and Grace and I hopefully showed him his sin by going through the Commandments. When I walked away I shook his hand and said, “Thank you, Robert. You’ve made my day”. He responded back “No sir, you have made mine”. I just love watching God work sometimes..
As a side note, I noticed 2 Jehovah’s Witness ladies standing around passing out their literature. I walked up to them and began to ask a series of questions to them about their faith. One lady responded “Jesus is a god, but he is not the Almighty.” I asked her “What if I could show you in Revelation where Jesus says He is the Almighty.” “Do it she said!”
So I went and picked up my Bible from my car as another witness showed up. Then they began to talk about how Jesus is a created being referring to Col 1:15. As I cross referenced Scripture to them they began to laugh and kinda poke fun at me. No problem I was thinking to myself. One lady asked if I thought the Jehovah’s Witness are wrong, so I answered “Yes, because of your understanding of Jesus.” She didn’t like that at all and one of the ladies just walked off grumbling as she went. I stood there speaking to the other two for about 5 minutes and I apologized and hoped that I didn’t offend any of them. She also asked me “What about John 3:16 that verse talks about Jesus being the only begotten son?” “You’re right” I told her. “Would you allow me the opportunity to share with you some Scripture on that verse?”
“No” she said, “I know Jesus”. Then she told me how closed minded I was. Ummmmm, ok..
We must show the true Lord Jesus to the world. It is every Christian’s duty to share Jesus with the lost. How will they know if we do not tell them!?
