This & That & Tats

Location: Downtown Chattanooga

Within 3 minutes of getting out of my car this morning I was off and running into my first witnessing conversation. His name was Anthony. Law…Grace…a pretty straight forward talk. But after we finished talking he asked me “How come you came over here by me and not all these other people?” I don’t know what type of answer he was looking for but I just let him know he looked the most friendly to talk to and sometimes it’s easier for me to talk to guys than the ladies.

Next there was Tommy. I noticed Tommy standing with his back to me at the bus stop because he had a huge skull tattoo on the back of his neck. After seeing that I knew I wanted to have a conversation with him. So I started our talk by asking him a few questions and using a couple of scenarios about Adolf Hitler (Thanks Ray Comfort!). In a roundabout way he told me that he would have shot Adolf Hitler’s mother to stop him from killing all of the people that he did in World War 2. Tommy listened to every word I said intently. He was honest, shot straight to the truth about his heart, but was very friendly. As he was talking to me I even noticed some type of star pentagram tattooed in the palm of his hand. Ouch! That had to hurt.

I told him “Tommy, you’ve got a big problem. God is going to find you guilty of Judgment Day. What are you going to do?”

“I don’t know.” He said. “I used to think about death when I was younger, but I haven’t even thought about it in years”. Wouldn’t you know it, about that time his bus rolled up. I gave him a “Why Christianity?” tract and he jumped on the bus. Tommy was a nice guy and I will be praying that God crumbles his heart.

My last encounter of the morning was with Michael. He told me that he had a bit of a Christian background. He also thought he was a good person and that he believed enough to get to Heaven. His face sure did change when I told him that belief was not enough. The Bible tells us that demons believe in God and they tremble. I’m not too sure if anyone had ever told him that he needed to repent. As a matter of fact that God commands him to repent and believe the Gospel. I certainly hope we will take our talk to heart.

I was rejected quite a bit this morning but I just remind myself of something. They are not rejecting me, they are rejecting Jesus Christ. My command from Jesus is to present truth. The rest is up to Him. This morning was great. At first it started a little rough (tough crowd) but God pulled all things together for Him. All the honor and glory goes go God alone.
