Rightly Handle Truth

How are we going to view the Gospel as a church? Is it a little container of Play-dough or is it a precious diamond? If it’s a container of Play-dough then you are going to take it out and you are going to shape it out in a cool way. People may think you are amazing with your new novel idea. But that doesn’t seem to be the way the apostle Paul speaks about it in 2 Timothy is it? The Gospel is about truth. It’s like a diamond that has been given to you to protect and guard, to hold up so others can see it and awe its beauty. To preserve it and keep it clean from becoming dirty and marred. We must rightly handle the Gospel. It is so easy to mishandle by the philosophies and ideas of this life. It’s so easy to empty it of its power by failing to believe it and proclaim it. We have been entrusted with the unchanging truth. We’ve not been called to reevaluate it or reinvent it. We’ve been called to preserve it and pass it on.
