The Deeper Conference - Details

As many of you know The Deeper Conference was this past weekend in Woodstock, Ga. I could not even sleep the night before my wife and I left town. I was very excited and went with high expectations. First of all let me just say that First Baptist of Woodstock is massive. This is one humongous church! After checking out the resource tables Josh and I got in line to try and grab a good seat. It was such a treat to see all of the guys from Way of the Master. You honestly feel like you know them from listening to the radio and from watching so many of their videos. So much theology was crunched into 48 hours that it could literally make one’s head explode. So let’s start there.

Todd Friel gave a Spirit led sermon detailing the tabernacle of the Old Testament and the Lord Jesus as our lamb sacrifice. It is truly amazing how the Bible is a progressive revelation how it continues to reveal God’s truth as you read through it. I would highly recommend anyone getting Todd’s new DVD when it comes out through Way of the Master Radio.

Pastor Johnny Hunt said a few things that really spoke to my heart. He said something like “So, what if we witness to those around us that are strangers and not the ones that are closest in our lives? Visualize your neighborhood, look to the house to the left, look to the house to the right. Have you witnessed to those people? What about your family and close friends that you have not talked to about salvation? What are you going to do about those people?” Ouch! I guess it’s time to knock on some doors, huh?

Paul Washer spoke uncompromising truth from the pulpit. Just what you would expect from him right? His emphasis was on the justice, holiness, and the unchanging truth of God. “If God is truly just, He must punish sin. If God is who He says He is, he cannot let the guilty go.” Paul Washer linked verse after verse together showing that God is The Righteous one who will judge the world according to His standard, not ours.

I even got to make some pretty cool pics of Todd Friel interviewing Paul Washer for an upcoming episode of Wretched!

We also participated in a wonderful worship service singing some old hymns of the past. Most of which I had never heard of. It was so powerfully moving and intense. Hearing thousands of people lift their voices to God in worship and praise. All I could do was thank Him for His grace and sit in my chair with my head in my hands thinking of my sin and repenting to my God. Bless His holy name!

Todd Friel led the communion service that everyone at the conference participated in. This was a quiet time of reflection for what Jesus Christ has done for us. Todd reminded us that it was His body that was bruised and crushed and it was His blood that was shed for the forgiveness of our sin against Him. He died for the very same ones that He created, the very same ones that were His enemies but now His children.

In my time of repentance at the conference I realized that I am even more depraved than I had thought. I should thank God for every smell and for so many other things that I take for granted every day. When I think of my sin I think of the big things, of course. But God has been so kind to even save me from the things that I’m not even aware of. It is my prayer that He brings all my thoughts and actions to obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.

If I learned anything over the past few days - it is that all of this is about Jesus. All of it. Even the small things that you don’t even think of. My prayer life, the times I read my Bible, the times I praise Him in church, my service, my attitude, my job, my money, my wife, my children, my EVERYTHING! It is all about Jesus Christ. I should spend every second of every day thanking Him. I pray that He may strengthen the depth of my love for Him because in my own power I will fail. There is no in between, my friend this is all about Him….

The details on the 500 are coming tomorrow. I can’t wait until next year. See ya’ll there….

Ty
