As an added note to my last entry…I did get the opportunity to go back downtown and look for Carrie. I really wanted to give the Bible to her that I bought for her. I even marked some Scriptures for her to read. On Monday I went looking for her and waited around but she never showed so I packed it up and headed home.
This morning I spoke to a homeless man who was waiting across the street from the courthouse. I began the conversation with a question that I use to ask people about their worst fears. When I asked him this he pointed across the street to the courthouse. I said “The law? Are you scared the most by the law?” He said, “Well, what it can do to you”. Let me ask you this? Can anyone ask for a better start? I don’t think so! He was there this morning because he was waiting for this time to appear in front of the judge. This made the witnessing encounter go by so smooth because he understood the basis behind man’s law and God’s law. God must punish sin and I think he got it.

He told me that when he was arrested he had a few things with him, one being a Bible. He said that when he was released they did not give him back all of his stuff and he lost his only Bible. I remembered that I had packed the Bible that I bought for Carrie before I left the house. So I told him that I had some good news for him. I pulled the Bible out of my backpack and gave it to him. I told him to flip through the pages because I had some things marked for him to read. His face really lit up and I was happy to see it. My wife has been telling me to hang on to that Bible because she knew that I would find someone else to give it to. God will get His Word out and into people’s hands. Just be faithful, bold and don’t back down for one second. Take a stand to bring glory to our God!
